WOODWORKER Ron Gough has created this stunning bowl as a birthday present for the Queen.

It has taken weeks for the 81-year-old to finish turning the intricate open work bowl which he created using 600 individual pieces made from six different types of woods, all natural in colour.

The finished product features crown designs around the outer edge and says ‘Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’ around a ‘90’ emblem in the centre.

Former mechanical engineer Ron, of Wilsden Grove, Redbrook, is modestly pleased with the end result and wants to send it safely on its way to Buckingham Palace.
