Manchester United midfielders Ben Pearson and Joe Rothwell have joined Barnsley on loan until January 3.Defensive midfielder Pearson, 20, played 22 games on loan for the Reds last season.
Rothwell, also 20, is a more attacking midfielder and played three games on loan to Championship club Blackpool last season.
Meanwhile, striker David Ball has joined the Reds on trial. The 25-year-old has played for Swindon, Peterborough, Rochdale and Fleetwood for whom he made 112 appearances in three years, scoring 30 goals and gaining promotion for League Two.
