THE DUKE and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Barnsley next week to open a new centre targeted at helping Barnsley’s homeless population.

Prince William and Kate Middleton will visit homeless charity Centrepoint on Wednesday where they will open the branch’s new Andy Norman Learning Hub, which provides a dedicated space for young people at risk of homelessness to learn and increase their own independence.

The Duke and Duchess will then help to prepare lunch for those who benefit from the charity’s services and talk with these people about their experiences.

Prince William has been a patron of Centrepoint since 2005, following in the footsteps of his mother Princess Diana.

Seyi Obakin, chief executive officer of Centrepoint, said: “Everyone at Centrepoint is excited to welcome our Patron the Duke of Cambridge, together with the Duchess of Cambridge, to one of our services in Barnsley next week.

“The Duke and Duchess will have the opportunity to learn more about our work supporting homeless young people into education and employment, and also to meet some of the extraordinary young people Centrepoint works with every day in Barnsley. We hope everyone will join us in wishing them a very warm welcome.”
