A YOUNG Royston man who suffered a near fatal brain injury is doing a skydive to raise money for the charity which he says saved his life.

Jack Mitchell, of Midland Road, relies on an electric wheelchair and has mobility issues after he slipped on ice on a night out with his friends in 2009.

The 23-year-old had to have life-saving emergency surgery and spent two weeks in a coma at Sheffield Hallamshire Hospital, before he was transferred to Barnsley where he stayed for another five weeks.

This did not prevent him from passing his A-levels with grades of A*, B and C and he has re-learned how to eat, talk and take his first steps - but now he is set to do his first skydive on June 26 to raise funds for charity Neurocare.
