ONLINE fashion giant ASOS has posted a major sales increase in its quarterly results.

In the four months to June 30, the retailer revealed a 23 per cent increase in the UK from the previous year’s figures, as well as a 31 per cent rise in the EU, 15 per cent in the US and 11 per cent across the rest of the world.

Based on Park Spring Road, Grimethorpe, ASOS employs around 4,000 people in Barnsley - its worldwide distribution hub.

Nick Beighton, chief executive, said: “I am pleased with the way the business has traded over the last four months and we are on track with our plans for the year.

“We delivered good sales growth, particularly in the UK, better than planned gross margin alongside significant progress on our infrastructure investments.

“We remain confident of delivering another year of strong growth.”
