A BABY and toddler group enjoyed a visit from a surprise four-legged guest.

The Toddletime group, which meets at Wath Library, was joined by author Tracey Barker and her pet skunk, Sansa.

Tracey was reading from her latest book, Sansa the Not-So-Smelly Skunk.

Children got hands on with the female skunk who, as the title of the book suggests, is not your average smelly skunk.

The story sees Sansa searching far and wide for a friend to play with, and has a strong message of inclusion and acceptance.

Toddletime organiser Annemarie Swallow said: “We have been going 14 years but this is something different for the little ones.

“It’s the first time we’ve had an author and definitely the first time we’ve had an animal come to the group.

“And the book has a good message, it’s about not leaving people out.

“Sansa wants to play with people but can’t, until she

eventually finds a friend who accepts her.”

The Toddletime group is run by volunteers and meets every Tuesday at 9.30am at Wath Library’s Community Room.
