A GOVERNMENT minister has congratulated pupils and staff at a Barnsley primary school after they came out in the top three per cent in the country in an important national test.
All 30 pupils who took the year one phonics screening test at The Mill Academy at Worsbrough Dale achieved or beat the pass mark of 32 out of 40.
The test involved reading 40 words - 20 real words and 20 made up words - under test conditions in the summer.
