CHILDREN from a Barnsley primary school have been learning in a new temporary environment this week following a devastating flood at their school.

Since Wednesday pupils from Oakwell Rise Primary Academy have been bused to two different venues after the school was forced to close last Thursday due to the flood which was caused by a burst water pipe.

The gushing water brought ceilings down, wrecked floors and took out the electricity supply and fire alarm system at the school in Doncaster Road.

As a consequence of the closure, pupils have been ferried to Forest Academy in Kendray and Shaw Lane Sports Club, Barnsley, to attend their classes.

The school is likely to be closed for a further two weeks and it could even take longer to make the necessary repairs.
