STUDENTS at Holy Trinity School presented Captain Catherine Dodd from Stocksbridge Salvation Army with hundreds of items for baby and infant care.

Every year, Holy Trinity school selects a Lenten Charity, which becomes the focus of pupils’ fundraising efforts during the period of Lent. This year, the chosen charity was Baby Basics.

The charity works with midwives, health visitors and other professionals to help families in need and vulnerable new mums. They provide starter packs, containing essential equipment and supplies, all presented in a Moses basket, as well as other items, from toys to pushchairs.

Pupils worked very hard to collect a huge number of items, all of which will provide essential supplies for new mums who may struggle in the early days. Kathryn Meehan, RE Teacher and School Chaplaincy Co-ordinator, said: “We were very pleased to be supporting Baby Basics this year as our Lenten Charity. Our pupils have made a fantastic effort and collected a huge amount of donations. This will make a big difference to new mums and their babies.”
