SENIOR staff at Carlton Community College are delighted the school has finally started to make improvements after being placed in special measures last year.

Ofsted inspectors visited the school, in Royston Lane, for the first time since it was placed in Ofsted's worst category in September.

They identified a number of improvements including teaching, progress and attainment, behaviour, marking and feedback.

Acting principal Paul Haynes said students were now focussed and determined to achieve better results and said he was confident that given support from staff, the school will see outstanding results this year.
