THE Barnsley Sea Cadets Band has made it through to the national band competition in London.

The traditional military marching band sailed through the eastern area band competition at Rockingham Castle in Market Harborough.

The band performed songs which are also performed by the Royal Marines, and also had to perform a drill.

It took all six available trophies including best band, best dressed and best original composition.

Four buglers performed a bugle fanfare which was composed at the cadet unit on Racecommon Road.

They will perform it again at the national competition which will be held at the Tower of London on August 19.
