SPECIALIST officers have been drafted in as the search continues to find 80-year-old Brian Tomlinson.

Volunteers from Mountain Rescue, fire crews from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue are on hand helping 46 police officers search for Brian, as well as the police drone and helicopter.

Brian was last seen at 4pm at his home address in the Hemingfield-Wombwell area of Barnsley on Friday.

On that afternoon, it’s believed that he may have driven to Barnsley town centre in a black Skoda, where he is reported to have been seen on Castlereagh Street walking towards Princess Street. He is described as around 5 ft 8 ins tall with a slim build and grey hair.

Brian has a distinct walk and it is reported that he walks with a slight stoop.

South Yorkshire police published a video as part of their appeal last night.

A police spokesman said: “Over the last 24 hours the team has been supported by numerous other specialists including volunteers.

“The team are urging members of the local community to stay vigilant in the search for Brian and report any potential sightings.

“They also ask that residents check their gardens and outbuildings to see if Brian may have taken refuge there. “If you think you have seen him, or if you have any information that may help our team in their search, please get in touch by calling 101 and quoting incident number 717 of August 16.”
