A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD is giving something back to Barnsley’s homeless people this Christmas.

Jayden Hood, of Caistor Avenue, Kingstone, has been using his pocket money to buy items for people who rely on the Barnsley Churches Drop-In Project, based at Temperance House on Pitt Street, and provides meals to the needy.

Mum Wendy said: “He has bought everything from socks, gloves, sleeping bags, hats, food and toiletries, but he also knows many homeless people have pet dogs so he’s got a few leads, collars, coats and flea and worming tablets.

“We are in the process of making parcels and we will be taking them to the project soon to hand deliver them to the homeless.

“It was all his idea and he’s not content with just dropping the items off, he wants to see the person and give them their gifts. I am so proud of him in what he has done.”
