Shaw Lane AFC retained their Sheffield Senior Cup final after beating near neighbours Penistone Church in a thrilling final at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane on Tuesday.

The Ducks equalised three times in the all-Barnsley final against a side who play two divisions below them before an extra-time own goal secured the trophy.

Tom Brennan headed Penistone in front from a corner then Shaw Lane captain Spencer Harris levelled with a fine long-range strike. But Nathan Keightley – who has been on trial with Barnsley this season – made it 2-1 to Penistone at half-time.

Kieran Lugsden levelled at 2-2 early in the second half then, after Andy Ring's fine volley put Church 3-2 up, the same player equalised again at 3-3 on 70 minutes.

Penistone had the better chances towards the end of normal time but their centre-back Brett Lovell turned in an own goal four minutes into the added period.

Harris missed a 120th-minute penalty for Shaw Lane after Penistone's Keightley had hit the post.
