MORE than 150 incidents of children going missing from care or foster homes in Barnsley were recorded in a year, a new report reveals.

Figures from Barnsley Council’s draft ‘Corporate Parenting Panel’ latest annual report shows incidents rocketed by 126 per cent - with 73 reported in 2014 compared to 165 in 2015, peaking at 71 episodes relating to just 14 children.

The report for the panel - which is responsible for children aged up to 18 who are in care or have left care - was discussed by councillors at the overview and scrutiny committee meeting.
