SHOCKED residents on a quiet street have described their shock after a couple were found dead.

Emergency services were called to Beech Close, Brierley, at 12.40pm last Saturday following reports that the bodies of a man and a woman had been found at their semi-detached bungalow.

The married couple, named locally as 67-year-old Raymond Massey and Christine Tunnicliffe-Massey, 57, died of stab wounds.

One said: “It was such a terrible thing to happen and it is something that has shocked the local community.

“Obviously the news has spread like wildfire and there has been a lot of rumours around the circumstances of the deaths but we all know that the couple were warm, caring and very friendly and were extremely well thought of.”
