A DARFIELD shop owner has appealed to the council to reconsider the double yellow lines on Snape Hill Road, saying their enforcement has caused her business income to drop by a third.

Kath Wright, owner of Kath's Caff on Snape Hill Road, said since enforcement of the double yellow lines outside her cafe began in January she has seen business decline, with customers struggling to find somewhere to park close by.

She attended the Darfield Crime and Safety meeting last week to put her views to the council, along with Chris Clay from Snape Hill Road Premier.

Coun Pauline Markham said: "There has always been double yellow lines there, but they had faded so couldn't be enforced.

"It is obviously affecting the businesses which I understand and it is frustrating, but Highways only put double yellow lines where they are relevant."
