Brother and sister Rob and Lisa Fletcher are to ride across the country to raise funds for a charity very close to their hearts.

Rob's daughter Ava Grace is only seven months old, but has already undergone emergency open heart surgery twice in her short life.

So her dad and her aunty are to cycle from coast to coast to raise money for the unit at Leeds Children's Cardiac Unit that saved her life and whose help she may need again in the future.

Rob Fletcher, 26, who is in the Royal Navy, and Lisa, 37,   will cycle 170 miles from Morecambe to Bridlington starting on October 19.

Rob, from Frederick Avenue, Barnsley, hopes they will complete the gruelling ride in just two days.

He explained: "Ava has had emergency open heart surgery at Leeds General Infirmary twice in the few months she has been with us.

"We are raising money for the Children's Heart Surgery Fund which is based in Leeds and raise money for the unit."
