A YOUNG singer from Bolton-upon-Dearne has been selected to perform the national anthem ahead of boxer Josh Wale’s fight for the British bantamweight title.

Hannah Steele, 15, of Bank End Close, will sing God Save the Queen and The Flower of Scotland before Josh fights Scotland’s Jamie Wilson at Doncaster Dome on July 1.

She has been selected by Josh’s manager, co-trainer and promoter Stefy Bull who had been looking for a raw talent from Barnsley. He chose Hannah after being shown a video of her singing.

She said: “I’m looking forward to singing, I think I will be nervous but I will be able to do it.”
