THE reintroduction of a town centre order which bans antisocial acts from taking place resulted in six dispersal orders being served in its first week, according to new figures.
A three-year public space protection order (PSPO) was brought in across the town centre and some residential streets in 2016 due to rising concerns with antisocial behaviour.
Following a 40-day consultation held earlier this year, a new agreement was drawn up to include more town centre streets and it came back into force in March.
A police report said: “In the first week, six PSPO dispersals were served. This resulted with one male being given a £100 fixed-penalty notice for breaching an order. He was served with another £100 fine for breaching it for a second time.”
