TWO skips will be provided to a Grimethorpe street in the coming weeks in a bid to clean up its image.
Bricks, chairs, litter, bin bags and a fridge lay strewn across Carlton Street but it is hoped the initiative, run by Barnsley Council and Yorkshire Housing, will encourage residents to take advantage.
Coun Jenny Platts, cabinet spokesman for communities, said: “We are aware of the untidy state of some yards between Carlton Street and High Street in Grimethorpe.
“The majority of these properties are managed by Yorkshire Housing, or are privately rented. A small number are also long-term empty.”
