THRILL-seeker David Warriner came up with a novel to way to enjoy the recent white weather - cross-country skiing along the Trans Pennine Trail.

The 33-year-old, of Heathercliff Way, Penistone, took to the trail on four consecutive days, with his adventures including two return trips to Dunford Bridge and one to Wharncliffe Woods near Wortley.

"I bought some skis in November in the hope I might be able to get out on the trail because the snow tends to stay on there," he said."I can ski from my front door to the trail. My neighbours thought it was a bit weird and I got some strange looks and some cheerful waves from some bemused walkers."
