Barnsley have added 20-year-old Spanish centre-back Julio César Rodríguez López to their development squad.
He joins on a season-long loan from Spanish La Liga side Real Sporting de Gijón. Standing at six foot four, Rodriguez has played more than 50 matches for Gijón's B side while also representing his county at under 18 and under 19 level.
He is Barnsley's fifth loan signing after Ryan Kent, Adam Armstrong, Sam Morsy and Saidy Janko.
