OUTDATED speed cameras in Barnsley face the axe under a review being carried out by South Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership.

Five cameras across the borough were taken out of use last month and of those, four are being monitored, which could lead to them being replaced with speed indicator devices or other measures.

It is part of a review looking at the future of fixed speed cameras by the South Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership, which operates 23 sites across Barnsley.

The five cameras no longer is use are on Doncaster Road, Ardsley; Wood Walk, Wombwell; Wombwell Lane, Stairfoot; Rotherham Road, Cundy Cross; Manchester Road, Thurlstone.
