A RESTORED Spitfire flew over Barnsley Hospital to pay tribute to the NHS and its staff.

The flyover took place on Saturday and was organised by the Aircraft Restoration Company who wanted to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the NHS and recognise the courage of frontline staff.

The words ‘Thank U NHS’ were painted on the underside of the plane, and there are plans to write up to 80,000 names of nominated heroes to help commemorate their hard work during the pandemic.
