A WOMAN has brightened up the outside of her home with Christmas lights in memory of her stepfather who died last year.

Stacey Wilkinson, 40, has decorated the outside of her house and front garden with Christmas lights as a tribute to her stepfather Roy Price, who died last year aged 82.

She said: “I remember when we were younger, back in the 90s Roy always loved to have lots of decorations and light up the home, I thought it was fitting to carry on with that tradition.”

Stacey, who lives on Yews Lane in Kendray, said the switch-on of her lights had started to become a tradition on the street.

She said: “We are a bit late this year with putting them up and we’ve had six people driving past asking when the switch-on will be. They come from all over every year to see our lights. Roy would have loved it. It gets bigger and better every year.”

Stacey switched on the lights on Wednesday and is hoping to have them up until the end of the year.
