STAFF at Ardsley House will work their last shift today as the hotel closes its doors.

The final function for waitress Marlene Lancaster, who has worked there for 20 years, was a ladies' luncheon held yesterday.

Marlene, 69, of Cumberland Drive, Ardsley, has served celebrities including Cilla Black and Leo Sayer, footballers, and countless businessmen and women.

Marlene said: "I'm very sad about how it has turned out. We've had some really good times and served some lovely people. We've had some really lovely bosses too."

The hotel's former owner Forestdale Hotels went into administration in March and the company was bought by St James's Hotel Group which announced the closure following a review to assess its viability.
