ELSECAR Park has been recognised as one of the UK’s best green spaces for the 11th year running.

The park and nature reserve has been awarded the Green Flag award, the national standard for parks and outdoor spaces.

Councillor Jenny Platts, cabinet spokesman for communities, said: “We are privileged to receive our 11th Green Flag Award and for Elsecar Park to be recognised as one of the best parks in the country.

“We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication of our Parks Services team and volunteers for their hard work that goes into maintaining Elsecar Park to such a high standard for our communities to enjoy.

“I would encourage everyone to get involved with volunteering opportunities at a local park.”

The award recognises the management and development of the park, as shown by a recent project that turned the old sandpit into a cycle track.
