CALLING all photographers who have taken pictures of the beautiful scenery around Staincross.

A competition has been launched by Staincross Alliance, a group opposed to council proposals to transfer land in the area from greenbelt to safeguarded which could, in years to come, see it developed for housing.

The council is currently considering those proposals which have met with widespread protest for people in the area.

Dr Jo Willoughby, who is heading up the alliance, said it was widely feared by local people that the beauty of the area could be swallowed up by development.

She said: “This is a photo competition which aims to preserve views of the area while we can, before a decision is made.”
