THE Stairfoot store of supermarket giant Tesco was left without frozen and fresh stock after a power cut meant stock had to be trashed.

The power cut, which occurred at about 3pm on Monday, meant frozen, fresh from the chilled section and stock from the hot food at the Tesco Extra superstore on Wombwell Lane had to be binned as refrigerators and freezers were left without power for several hours.

Tesco spokesman Mark Thomas said: "We're sorry for any inconvenience caused by the power cut to our Stairfoot store but we've worked hard to make sure we're back open and welcoming customers."
