Daniel Stendel admits the Barnsley players felt like they had lost after being held to a 0-0 home draw by Burton Albion but praised them for extending their unbeaten run to 13 league games.

The Reds remain second in League One, five points behind leaders Luton Town and four clear of third-placed Sunderland. They visit fourth-placed Portsmouth on Saturday.

Stendel said: “It is normal that we will be disappointed after this game. The players sat in the dressing room like we had lost this game but we will take this point into Saturday’s game at Portsmouth.

“We didn’t have the best day today. We wanted to win but we didn’t and it’s OK. I am disappointed but not too dissatisfied because the players are unbeaten for 13 games and I am very proud of them for that.

“We had two or three good chances to score but, in the second half, we did not have the solutions to break the defence of Burton.  The players have played at a high level in the last weeks but we cannot play at this level all the time.”
