Daniel Stendel believes his in-form Barnsley team can win League One this season.

The Reds are fifth after a six-match unbeaten run which includes four wins and draws with the two sides in the automatic promotion places. They are eight points behind leaders Portsmouth and four off second-placed Luton Town with a game in hand on both of them.

Sunderland, in third, have played the same amount of games as the Reds, who they are three points ahead of. Head coach Stendel told the Chronicle: “We have only one competition because we are out of all the cups and our goal is to finish at the top of League One.

“We play against Portsmouth and Sunderland in the rest of the season so we have a chance to do that.”
