STEPHANIE Hirst says she was ‘deeply saddened’ by US president Donald Trump’s announcement that transgender people will be banned from the US army, but comforted that our own army is not so ‘backward’.
Broadcaster and DJ Stephanie, who was formerly known as Simon, has been interviewed by several broadcasters including Sky and the BBC since President Trump’s tweets declaring his government will ‘not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the US military’.
“I just think the whole world is laughing at Trump,” said Stephanie, of Dodworth. “But I really do fear for those people who thought they were in a safe environment, to come out and be themselves.”
