THE A616 Stocksbridge bypass is open this morning after more than a week of disuption.

Highways England said the road is open in both directions, but traffic lights will be reinstated mid morning to allow crews to make repairs following recent flooding near the village of #Stocksbridge

The road flooded last Thursday and has closed and reopened several times since, with periods of it being partially open with temporary traffic lights.

Highways England said there has been ongoing work to drain all the water from a culvert under the road and relevant pipes.

Highways England's service delivery manager for Yorkshire and the Humber, Mark Ramsden, said: "Unfortunately due to the amount of rainfall and water coming off the saturated verges it has caused us some delay in investigating and resolving this flooding issue."
