Five Barnsley College students were honoured by Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis after triumphing over 300 other college learners in an enterprise competition.

Media students Richard Hall, Emma Holman, William Turner and James Bentley teamed up with A Level student Peyton Colgan to win the competition at the University of Huddersfield, which required them to create a concept for a nutrition bar.

The group wowed the judging panel with their idea for a healthy snack bar aimed at children using a strong brand identity and were congratulated by businessman Theo, who then gave the students a talk on his experiences and success in business.

Chloe Hughes, progress coach within the College’s faculty of arts, media and entertainment, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their skills and creative flair.

"There is a strong entrepreneurial spirit amongst our students and we are delighted with the group’s success.”
