A Sunday league football team has been told not to play this weekend to 'avoid confrontation' with travellers camped on their Kingstone pitch.
There are about 12 caravans spread across the length of pitches off Broadway, including next to goal posts, and some have their own generators and aerials outside.
Commercial FC was due to play there on Sunday but manager Michael Thomas was advised by a Barnsley Council worker not to let the game go ahead.
Michael has now been forced to find another venue for the game, which will cost them additional money.
Michael, 29, said: "We played Sunday morning and I think they came that night, or Monday morning. I've spoken to the council about it but they weren't having a meeting until yesterday.
"The council has said to me do not play the game because it will avoid confrontation.
"It is a cup game and we were supposed to be at home and now we're having to play away, so we'll incur some travel costs for that."
It isn't the first time Commercial FC has had to change fixtures.
A spokesman for Barnsley Council said legal action is being taken to remove the travellers from the unauthorised encampment on the playing field at Kingstone.
He said: "It is intended that notice will be served today instructing the travellers to vacate the playing field by 12 noon on Monday.
"Failure to do so will result in an application being made to the court for their eviction."
