A SUPER student is bound for the Far East after earning herself a place on a global scholarship programme.

Barnsley Academy sixth form student Sarah Scholey's top grades secured her a spot on the University of Sheffield's global scholarship scheme.

Sarah, who is from Darfield, achieved a triple distinction* in her level three BTEC Extended Diploma in health and social care at the Kendray school and begins her BA Hons degree in education, culture and childhood in September.

She will fly out to South East Asia in summer 2016 and finds out exactly where she is going in October.

Sarah beat off scores of applicants to secure one of just 30 places on the university's global scholarship scheme.
