SUPERMARKET giant Asda has told residents fed up of self checkout tills that as of July there will be more staffed tills.

A group of residents handed a 350-signature petition to the store complaining about the number of self checkout tills.

All but one is a self checkout till, and the elderly have complained that they are difficult to use.

Gary Hotchins, of Grange Road, Brierley, said: "When we took the petition down the manager came out to see us and he was really good about the situation.

"He told us that head office are listening to what customers want, so they are putting the tills back in which is great news for our elderly residents."
