A CRACKDOWN on flytipped waste at a West Melton industrial estate has led to a suspended sentence for a Barnsley flytipper.

Windows, plaster board, carpet and underlay was dumped at Wath Industrial Estate by Mark Nicholls, of Mallory Way, Cudworth.

A Rotherham Council enforcement officer managed to trace the rubbish to an address in Bolton-Upon-Dearne, where the resident whose waste it was informed them he had paid 29-year-old Nicholls £120 to dispose of it.

A spokesman from Rotherham Council said: “Mr Nicholls, who was registered with Barnsley Council as a scrap metal dealer and also held an Environment Agency licence, was then asked to attend an interview with the council but did not do so despite being contacted on numerous occasions.”
