A COUNCILLOR has urged police to increase their patrols at Carlton Marsh after reports of drug dealing were made.

The nature reserve, off Shaw Lane, is a multi-award-winning venue thanks to its rich wildlife but recent goings-on have raised the eyebrows of Coun Charlie Wraith.

According to witnesses, motorists have been accessing its car park late in the evenings to allegedly deal drugs.

Coun Wraith said: “The gate is usually locked but someone must have a key as cars are regularly seen in there when it should be off limits. I’ll be passing this matter onto the police as this is definitely worthy of their attention as these people are targeting the jewel in Barnsley’s wildlife crown.”
