Hoylandswaine's Chris Holliday blasted two centuries this week, then was seven runs short of a third, to take his tally for the season past 1,000 runs – and now he hopes to double it.

The 25-year-old scored 117 as Swaine won in the league to extend their lead at the top to ten points over Delph and Dobcross who they then beat in the Sykes Cup quarter-final with Holliday smashing a brutal 142 off 86 balls after being caught off a no-ball on 25.He then hit 93 not out off 46 balls in the quadruple-chasing Haigh Lane club's Twenty20 Cup success at Kirkburton in midweek. That means the former Yorkshire Academy and Leicester 2nd XI player has 352 runs in three matches this week and 1,133 runs this season, which is his first for the club.

Swaine are also in the last eight of the Heavy Woollen Cup on Sunday, with Holliday having already smashed an incredible 203 in an earlier round of that competition.

Holliday, who runs his own sports coaching company in schools, said: "It has been a fantastic week for myself, but more importantly for the team. This is the best season of my career so far. I have got to 1,000 runs before the halfway point and I am looking to double that by the end of the season.

"We're hoping to win the quadruple, which we are capable of, but the big ones are the league and the Heavy Woollen Cup which the club has never won and they lost in the final in the last two years. This year they brought in four or five players in their mid-20s who have been around county cricket, like me, to add some youth to the experience they already had.

"We have gelled really well and it's the best dressing room I have ever been in. When someone is down, everyone else picks them up. The morale is fantastic."

Swaine won by 141 runs at Barkisland in the Premiership on Saturday. Holliday was supported by SP Singh (79) and captain Ryan Robinson (52) as Swaine posted a massive 358 for six. Barkisland were bowled out for 217 with Gurman Randhawa taking four wickets.

The next day, Holliday and Gharib Nawaz (76) led Swaine to 391 for nine in the cup then Delph fell short on 340 in front of a crowd of around 400 people with Singh claiming three wickets.

At Kirburton in the Twenty20 on Tuesday, Swaine were set 158 then lost their openers early but Holliday fired 13 fours and four sixes in his unbeaten 93. Muhammad Bilal added 38 off 20 balls as Swaine won with eight wickets and 5.4 overs remaining.
