Neither Kenny Dougall nor Bambo Diaby is expected to play against Swansea City tomorrow as they are not deemed fully fit after injury.

Central midfielder Dougall has not played for the first team since a leg fracture in March but is back in training and has played games on the last three Fridays, twice for the under 23s and once in a behind-closed-doors match. Centre-back Diaby has missed the last six games with an ankle problem.

Caretaker Adam Murray said: “Kenny and Bambo are both doing well but Saturday will probably come too early for them.”

Meanwhile, striker Patrick Schmidt played for Austria under 21s in their 5-1 loss to England on Tuesday then picked up an injury in training at Oakwell the following morning.

The 21-year-old, whose four appearances for the Reds have all been from the bench, is not thought to be seriously injured but is a doubt for tomorrow’s game against Swansea. He came on after 69 minutes with his side 4-1 down in Milton Keynes after also coming off the bench in Austria under 21s’ 3-0 home win on Friday over Turkey.

Reds defender Aapo Halme captained Finland under 21s in both their 4-0 win over Malta on Friday and their 1-0 loss at home to fellow Nordic country Denmark on Monday.
