A HUSBAND and wife who ran a pizza takeaway have received prison sentences after admitting breaching health and safety.

The couple, Mrs Ashraf Khoob-Bakht, 57, who owns Signori’s Pizza, Houghton Road, Thurnscoe, and Masoud Atyabi, 58, who managed it, appeared before Sheffield Crown Court.

Masoud Atyabi was jailed for four months, while his wife received four months’ custody, suspended for 12 months. Both had to pay an £80 victim surcharge but no prosecution costs as they have no money.

They both admitted failing to comply with improvement notices served by Barnsley Council Regulatory Services, and for having unsafe gas and electrical systems.
