YOUNG entrepreneur Rose Dyson has been named on a top ten list of technology stars of the future.

Rose, 18, of Towngate, Silkstone, is the owner of the successful Pura Cosmetics, a cruelty-free vegan lip care range.

She was crowned the UK National Young Trader of the year last year and was scouted for BBC’s Dragon’s Den.

Now Rose has been named as one of the winners of a new Inspiring Juniors competition to find the tech stars of the future.

The UK-based competition was launched in May by Janneke Niessen, co-founder of the non-profit Inspiring Fifty which identifies and celebrates women in leadership positions in tech. The competition was for any girls aged 18 and under with a passion for technology and have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and originality.

Rose said she was chosen for using her website and social media accounts to market her products and generate sales.

She said: “I got an e-mail saying I had been nominated and was asked to answer some questions and send a biography.

“I did what I was asked, and then got another e-mail while I was on holiday to say I was on the list. I was so pleased, I couldn’t believe it.

“I’ve no idea who nominated me, though. Most of the girls are from London, so it’s really nice to be one of the northerners on the list.”

Rose said the opportunity had led her to several speaking events in London, including speaking at Arlixmeet - Teen Entrepreneurs Conference on August 1.

Rose added: “I’ve finished my A level exams now and I’m full time with Pura Cosmetics. Christmas is going to be manic but it’s all go now. There is nothing holding me back.”
