THE FAMILY of a teenage boy held at knife point for his motorbike is warning others to be vigilant.

Connor Bell, 15, had gone to meet with friends near an old railway line at Worsbrough Bridge last Wednesday when he was approached by a group of four men in a car near Wigfield Farm, on Haverlands Lane.

Two of the men got out the car and threatened Connor before pushing him off his bike while waving a knife at him. One of the men then got on the bike and rode away on it.

The other man got in the car and it sped off towards Ward Green. The ordeal has left the Barnsley Academy pupil rattled and his father Frank, of Worsbrough Dale, wants other riders to be on their guard.

Mr Bell, 47, said: "It is a one-of-a-kind bike because he bought it from someone who built it up so it's bespoke. He'd only had it five days and saved all his own money up for it, about £350.

"To pull a knife on a 15-year-old lad is disgusting. It's frightened him to death and he's on edge all the time.

"I was absolutely gutted for him because all he had talked about for near on 12 months was getting this bike."

The incident has been reported to police.
