MARTIN Goddard is not your average teenager.

Martin, 16, has spent the summer volunteering at local charity shop The Well Wish Society on Wombwell High Street.

He fully accepts that he could be earning a bit of money but says he would not swap jobs with any of his friends.

Helping out is what he considers to be fun.

"I prefer to be helping people," says Martin, of Blythe Street. "I haven't been on a summer holiday and I'm not bothered about that.

"I love working here and I get to do a real mixture of things. I'd encourage more people my age to do some volunteering."

Martin has just left Wath Comprehensive School and will embark on a career in his second passion this month by starting a catering course at Dearne Valley College.
