A TEENAGER whose spinal cord was crushed in a car crash is using his life-changing injuries to help tell young people how important it is to drive safely.

Perry Shaw, 19, from Wombwell, is attending Drive for Life sessions to speak to students about how his whole future changed two years ago when he was involved in a car crash and firefighters had to cut him from the wreckage.

He said: "I no longer have control of my bladder or bowels and although I can walk a few wobbly steps I have little sensation in my legs and use my wheelchair the majority of the time."

At the time he drove the car he only had a provisional licence and no insurance. His friend who was a passenger in the car escaped with cuts and bruises.
