A TEENAGER has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run.

The 16-year-old girl was crossing Huddersfield Road in Barnsley when she was hit by a dark coloured car travelling towards Barugh Green.

It happened at 9.50pm on Sunday, near to the junction with Queen's Drive.

The girl was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but she is now in a stable condition.

Police said the car did not stop and police are urging anyone who was in the area between 9.45pm and 10.15pm to come forward.
