Ten man Barnsley had to cling on to a point after letting a two goal lead slip against Birmingham City.

Goals from Tom Bradshaw and Sam Winnall had Barnsley two up but Birmingham hit back through Jacques Maghoma and Lukas Jutkiewicz, who converted from the spot after Marc Roberts was dismissed for fouling Che Adams.

Tributes were paid to club legend Norman Rimmington, who died earlier this week, before and during the game.

A minute's applause was held prior to kick off and flowers were laid outside of Oakwell in honour of 'Mr Barnsley' Rimmington, who has also been awarded a British Empire medal in the new year's honours list for his services to football.

The visitors had the first serious shot on goal with Jonathan Grounds volleying just over the bar after latching onto Greg Stewart's cross.

Barnsley responded with Conor Hourihane sliding in Bradshaw but the striker's attempted pass to Winnall was hacked away for a corner.

Former Red Ryan Shotton then blocked Winnall's shot on goal.

Barnsley went in front on 24 minutes with Marley Watkins, back in the team for Josh Scowen, doing brilliantly down the right and picking out Bradshaw who finished clinically into the bottom corner.

The Reds made it two just four minutes later with Winnall rising unchallenged to head in Hourihane's corner from close range.

Barnsley then had chances to make it three with Watkins' deflected effort being tipped away acrobatically by Tomasz Kuszczak before Ryan Kent volleyed across goal.

Maghoma struck one back for Birmingham before the break after being played in by Adams.

The second half started disastrously for The Reds with Roberts sent off for fouling Adams in the box. Substitute Jutkiewicz smashed in the resulting penalty to level the scores.

Both teams had chances to steal the points.

First, Jonathan Spector volleyed wide a big chance for the visitors before Winnall was denied by a fantastic diving save from Kuszczak.

Winnall then miscued a header when free at the back post after being picked out by substitute Scowen.

Former Red David Cotterill fired a late free kick wide of goal.
