Terminally ill musician donates instruments to young people

A TERMINALLY ill musician has continued his mission to spread musical instruments and opportunity to Barnsley’s young people.
Bren Ashburn, 64, presented six guitars to Barnsley Guitar Ensemble and nine other instruments including a flute, cello, banjo and mandolin to Barnsley Music Service, based at The Civic.
Bren has made several donations to schools near his home in Royston and made the latest presentation on Wednesday night at The Civic.
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
